Twelve (12) Arts & Crafts-inspired townhomes clustered in four cedar-shingled buildings along a winding central lane transformed a rugged site, dominated by Roxbury puddingstone and scarred by a failed development attempt in the 1980’s, into one of Boston’s premier new developments. Custom Spanish cedar columns and balustrades, dominant gables, and simple shed dormers echo the traditional turn-of-the-century architecture of the adjacent homes in this serene enclave on the edge of Frederick Law Olmsted’s Franklin Park. Each of the ten market-rate and two affordable units feature distinctive layouts characterized by their sunny, spacious layouts and custom interior natural woodwork. Designed to be highly energy-efficient, the residences were constructed with 8” walls (24” o.c. staggered 2x4 studs on 2x8 plates) filled with cellulose insulation and the roof cavities insulated with icynene foam.
